Celebrating Leadership in Action  – Tech Industry Alliance Board Members Support Tír na nÓg

Last year, at the Leaders Awards 2024, our Chairperson’s Award recognised Louise Quill for her extraordinary work with Tír na nÓg Children’s Foundation. That moment sparked a collective question: “Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see her incredible work first-hand and explore ways to support her mission?”

This summer, two Tech Industry Alliance board members Catherine Evans (Fexco) and Mary O’Donoghue (Park Place Technologies) turned that thought into action, travelling to Kilimanjaro, Tanzania to volunteer directly with the Tír na nÓg team.

During their visit, Catherine and Mary worked hands-on at the school and orphanage, contributing time, expertise, and energy to ambitious projects designed to expand and enhance the facilities. From supporting educational initiatives to helping improve the day-to-day operations, they experienced the mission of Tír na nÓg up close: uplifting the lives of orphaned and abandoned children through education, guidance, and love.

Founder Louise Quill reflected on the impact of their visit: “They were phenomenal and their impact was truly felt. Two mighty women, who are fazed by absolutely nothing. A pleasure to get to know and work alongside. We were truly honoured that they gave up their time to pass on their knowledge and expertise. They are a credit to their families, friends and colleagues.”

Speaking about their experience, Catherine and Mary noted how deeply moved they were by the resilience of the children and the dedication of the Tír na nÓg team. The trip not only highlighted the vital importance of the foundation’s work but also reinforced the Tech Industry Alliance’s commitment to supporting initiatives that create long-term, positive impact.
