Overview of Speakers

Rebecca Hughes

Rebecca is the Director and Country Leader for Data Security and Privacy in EY Cybersecurity Consulting.  As a privacy advocate she enjoys supporting clients improve their security posture to deliver better data protection. Prior to this as Head of Data Protection at a Retail Bank, Rebecca was tasked with designing and delivering a bank-wide risk management and assurance framework for data protection.

Rebecca has over 20 years of diversified experience, including delivering cyber security services to clients in a range of industries like financial services and healthcare.  She has delivered Board training, presentations, and cyber crisis simulation exercises.

Rebecca has a BSc in Computer Forensics & Security from Southeast Technological University, and a BA(Hons) in European Business Studies with German from University of Ulster.  Rebecca is an IAPP Certified Information Privacy Professional / Europe and Certified Information Privacy Manager

William Dalton

William Dalton is Vice President & Managing Director Europe at VicOne, an automotive cybersecurity solutions provider and subsidiary of renowned cybersecurity provider Trend Micro. William is responsible for leading the development and expansion of VicOne’s business in the European automotive market to „cyber-secure“ the mobility of tomorrow. William also holds global facing roles and responsibilities for Trend Micro in the area of Information Services, compliance as well as co-site leadership for the European Operations Centre.

William graduated from the Munster Technology University in Electrical Engineering, and over the last 25+ years he has held various Corporate, Functional and Regional roles within Trend Micro. Prior to Trend Micro William spent 7 years developing manufacturing control systems in the Electronic manufacturing Industry. He has held board level positions in Not-for-Profit Technology related organisations as well as supporting cyber security accelerators and STEM related programs.

Gerard Kirrane

With over twenty years of experience across diverse sectors, including public services, military, healthcare, manufacturing and financial services, Gerard has demonstrated expertise in ICT and cybersecurity. He is a skilled solutions orientated professional with experience on conducting cybersecurity assessments, leading cyber transformation programmes, engaging in complex security by design projects and managing major incident responses both nationally and internationally.

As a Director in EY Ireland’s Technology Consulting Cybersecurity division, Gerard designs bespoke and innovative solutions that align businesses with regulatory requirements while remaining customer-friendly. He is recognised for his problem-solving skills and leadership in achieving positive outcomes for clients.

In addition to his technical expertise, Gerard is an excellent communicator and has well-honed stakeholder management skills. As a client-facing Chief Information Security Officer, he is skilled in managing complex cybersecurity business and regulatory compliance issues, while also offering value to his clients.
