Join us for our first 23’ Kerry event on the 21st of February at 11.30am in MTU, Kerry Campus. This event is on the topic: Attracting, Developing, Retaining, Promoting & Progressing Talent of the Future and is kindly sponsored by VMware. There will be refreshments and networking from 11.30am followed by a panel discussion from 12-1pm.

Listen and engage with expert panellists as they discuss how companies and organisations can reshape talent strategies by attracting, developing, retaining, promoting & progressing individuals.

These speakers are from across a wide variety of backgrounds and specialist areas who will share insights into the potential of untapped talent pools in our region while also connecting companies to initiatives and tactics to attract, onboard and retain all talent for the significant benefit of all businesses.

Overview of panellists:

Gearoid Kearney works closely with companies to enhance their understanding of Neurodiversity and implement strategies to create a more accommodating office environment for Neurodivergent employees. He is also currently developing DiscoverSpaces, a tool designed to empower Neurodivergent individuals to get a sense of the companies office environment, like lighting, layout and designated quiet spaces, before commencing employment there.

Teresa O’Shea is a BBS graduate of the ITT and a local Tralee woman enjoyed a very successful 20 year career in the Media industry. Working across Marketing, Circulation and Advertising, Teresa brings with her a wealth of experience and expertise. In 2020 Teresa joined the IPS team in Kerry as an Employment Specialist where she works as part of the Killarney Community Mental Health Team.

IPS is an evidence-based programme dedicated to supporting clients attending Community Mental Health Services into paid competitive employment. Uniquely this free service is time unlimited and operates a zero-exclusion policy.  IPS works in partnership with Employability Service Kerry & Dept of Social Protection.  Employment Specialists are highly trained in job matching and employer engagement, ensuring a client centred approach and advocating for diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Teresa believes that IPS is the epitome of a ‘person- centred’ business. The role offers great job satisfaction and fulfilment as it offers a feeling of helping people find the right job and that life changing opportunity. This is not just for the client but also for the employer whose team is strengthened with new talent and potential.

Marion Walker works with VMware as a Manager in the global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Center of Excellence team, and has over 12 years’ experience across hiring, HR and operations, with a specialisation in DEI and talent acquisition. Originally from Perth in Western Australia, Marion has lived in Ireland since 2014.

Growing up, she lived in areas which were vastly multicultural. Having witnessed and experienced discrimination, her mission is to help people understand that everyone has the right to feel they belong and can be their authentic selves.

Her professional DEI career began at the Equal Opportunity Commission of Western Australia, focusing on the conciliation process relating to discrimination. With VMware, Marion joined the talent acquisition team where she was initially a staffing coordinator, eventually shifting to a recruiter position, and focused on developing inclusive recruiting processes with an emphasis on bias awareness. Now Marion manages programs which support, maintain and improve VMware’s inclusive culture, such as reverse mentorship, sponsorship, inclusive hiring, learning journeys and much more.
